In recent years there has been a lot of concern over what they call CYBER SECURITY. Cyber Security is the practice of defending computers, servers, mobile devices, electronic systems, networks, and data from malicious attacks. Although there has been some measures which has been put in place to fight these acts, they are just not enough to combat and end these attacks, there is a hackers' code which says "A computer is smarter than its user." Critically analyzing this code, it means an individual can have an expensive and powerful piece of equipment but it is very easy to attack that individual if his or her computer skills are ATROCIOUS.
In this section of this article I will explain some of the ways which you can protect your self from malicious activities on your computers or mobile devices;
1. STOP USING SUGGESTED PASSWORDS FROM GOOGLE OR ANY OTHER PASSWORD HOLDERS!
It is very helpful, hustle free and manages your passwords well. Now think about it, this tool is free and what it does for you is quite unbelievable right? well not really, if google can generate MILLIONS+ passwords for its users around the world, don't you think another powerful hacker can create a bot that can decode everything and generate TRILLIONS+ of passwords and hack whatever target he has in mind.
It is quite advisable that you create your own strong password, made with numbers, letters and other relevant characters that you can use and just write it down on piece of paper the old fashioned way, of course if you are up for it.
OR avoid these passwords!
-123456 (or any chronically ordered numbers)
-987654321
-admin
-1111111111
-password
2. NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR E-MAIL OR PHONE NUMBER TO ANONYMOUS INDIVIDUAL!
Now this may sound a bit crazy but yes way man! Successfully obtaining an e-mail from you not only mean that your privacy has been comprised but it also means your security has been breached. For the men in hoodies that calls for a celebration.
In today's age it is essential that you keep your e-mail from fishes who will use it to make you provide even more to what they already know. It can be through spam e-mails or through a process called PHISHING, whereby they will attach a link and when you click on it, you will experience many redirects at the same time it can 5 or more redirects in one request or a link that lands you to google search engine, now that's where you need to worry .
Using your number it is even worse because, it will give them all the platforms which that number has ever registered to, whether it is Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp boom! you are already gone on a pressing of few commands. Whats worse some will even ask for RANSOM or they will leak your private browsing it gets scary but not worry that is the reason why blogs like this are here for.
3. SECURE YOUR DEVICE!
When your device is not secured, maybe lost, it can be used to access your personal info, steal your money and your identity. Try securing your device by;
-Installing an Anti-Virus
-Setting a bio-metric scan like a finger print to unlock the device
-Enabling remote phone reset in case of long term misplacement if it is supported
-Subscribing to a trusted VPN
Even if these measures are there, it is not guaranteed that you will be safe from cyber attacks, it is only when you are smart you will be safe. Keep digging more ways to protect your self.
I won't forget to publish another advanced way you can protect your self.
